Inspired by an antiquated technique of hand-coloring of photographs, where photographers in Japan in the 1860–1899 hand-painted monochromatic photographs, as colored photographs hadn’t existed yet. Similarly, like film photography, there’s still a certain feel to it that holds nostalgia from the phased out medium. Marius tries to recreate the colorization feel in modern times from seeing his subjects in a different way. Portraying the grittiness of modern life and being alive and colorful at the same time, highlighting certain things and themes in each piece, bringing out the true COLOR of LIFE.
